This Privacy Policy explains how StoryFM ("StoryFM", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you visit storyfmapp.com, create an account, sign in with Google, listen to stories, publish content, or otherwise use our services.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
We may collect information you submit directly, including your name, email address, username, password, profile details, support messages, stories, chapters, audio, comments, and other content you choose to provide.
Google Sign-In information
If you choose "Sign in with Google", StoryFM requests only the basic identity information needed to create or connect your account: your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile picture. We use this information only to authenticate you, create or locate your StoryFM account, display your profile, prevent abuse, and provide account support.
StoryFM does not use Google Sign-In to access your Gmail, Google Drive files, contacts, calendar, payment information, or Google password. We do not sell Google user data or use it for targeted advertising.
Usage and device information
When you use StoryFM, we may automatically receive technical and activity information such as your IP address, browser and device type, language, login and session information, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, stories played or saved, playback progress, referrals, and diagnostic or security events.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- operate, maintain, and secure StoryFM;
- create accounts, authenticate users, and maintain sessions;
- provide listening, library, creator, publishing, and community features;
- remember playback progress and personalize discovery;
- process requests, respond to support, and send service-related notices;
- detect fraud, spam, abuse, copyright infringement, and security incidents;
- measure performance and improve our website, applications, and content experience; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
3. Google API data and Limited Use
Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide or improve the user-facing sign-in and account features described in this policy.
4. Cookies and sessions
StoryFM uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect accounts, maintain playback and session state, measure service performance, and prevent misuse. You may control cookies through your browser, but disabling necessary cookies may prevent login or other features from working.
5. When we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information:
- with hosting, storage, email, analytics, security, payment, and other service providers that process data for us under appropriate obligations;
- with other users when you publish a public profile, story, comment, or other public content;
- when you request or consent to a specific disclosure;
- to comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests; or
- to protect StoryFM, our users, creators, rights, property, or safety.
If StoryFM is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law and continued protection.
6. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain your account and library, meet legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by the type of information and why it is processed. Public content or copies required for security, backup, legal, or integrity purposes may remain for a limited period after account deletion.
7. Your choices and rights
You may update eligible profile information through your account settings. Where enabled, you may request account deletion from account settings, or contact us for access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
You can remove StoryFM's Google access at any time from your Google Account permissions. Revoking Google access stops future Google authentication data exchange, but it does not automatically delete information already held in your StoryFM account. To delete that information, use StoryFM's account-deletion option or contact us.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and notifying us of suspected unauthorized access.
9. Children
StoryFM is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age. If you believe a child has provided information improperly, please contact us.
10. International processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border processing and handle information according to this policy and applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as StoryFM or applicable requirements change. We will publish the updated version here, revise the "Last updated" date, and provide additional notice when required.
